*During Prohibition Mattituck Inlet’s proximity to New York City made the creek a popular drop-off spot for rumrunners, and tales of bootlegging in the area are legend. There is still a drop door in the floor of the Old Mill, which once serviced boats with “hooch”during low tide. We like to think you can savor a drop of those bygone times while enjoying some of these cocktails.
For over a century The Old Mill has been a destination watering hole for locals and travelers alike. While you're not likely to see customers arrive by horse-drawn carriage these days, many still roll in by boat — from work or from play — in need of serious refreshment.

Since Prohibition, when hooch was smuggled through the drop door in the kitchen, we've considered drink a solemn affair.

So settle in, order up. Cheers and Amen!
